Crematogaster cerasi
Cherry Acrobat Ants
Crematogaster cerasi is the acrobat ant that will live nearly anywhere, from Nova Scotia and Quebec across most of the United States and southwest into Baja California, from sea level up into the Huachucas, nesting in soil and sometimes throwing a small mound, under stones, under sagebrush in the west and in hardwood hammock in the southeast, in twigs and hollow stems and rotten stumps, and in hickory nuts. Despite Crematogaster's typical reputation, it doesn't really go up trees.
